Supporting your local Bowlo

Situated at the far end of North Epping on Boundary Road, the North Epping Bowling and Community club is your traditional Sydney Bowlo but with outstanding views out over bushland. The club has faced the same challenges as other bowling clubs – declining numbers of players and revenue. A program of different bowling options can attract new members, but the heart is the clubhouse with its bar and restaurant area.

Over recent months a new café option has been developed. A trial showed potential with great support from locals. But work was needed to update elements of the kitchen. The bank has now given the club grant funding and after recent work, a new café has opened offering brunch, lunch and dinner. This follows support given last year to refurbish the verandah.

Our chair, Craig Gallagher, dropped in recently to meet the new cafe team and see the kitchen improvements.

The views from the verandah are terrific, and the main room can also cater for community functions – from sports club presentations, group meetings through to birthday celebrations. Along with the multi use courts next door (managed by North Epping Rangers), the Scout hall, and the new North Epping Men’s Shed, this is now a great community hub area open to all.
