The first of a number of joint community partnership projects has been completed – with the Men’s Shed building new play equipment for the local North Epping playgroup, Mini Movers.
Late last year, the North Epping Men’s Shed was officially opened and is going from strength to strength. With the equipment installed, Shed members wanted to start new projects. They reached out to Community Bank Epping to hear about local groups that might need a hand. Our grants program brings us in touch with a variety of organisations. Many have little projects that would make a big difference.
First cab off the rank has been a fun one – a great new ‘car’ play area at Mini Movers playgroup, based at All Saints church in North Epping. An busy weekly playtime for local families, the children are always looking for new activities. A large wooden car will give hours of creative and energic play possibilities.
The team from the Men’s Shed had to do a bit of maneuvering to get the frame through to the outdoor play area. Then a bit of assembly and the job was done!
Community Bank Epping funded the materials for this project from our grants program, and has given additional support to the Men’s Shed to cover costs. Members of the Shed give their time and expertise. A great collaboration that benefits many in the community.
The Men’s Shed have also worked on other projects. This inclused the community garden at Epping North Public School, and on areas for CCA in Eastwood. Future community partnerships will hopefully involve local sports clubs and other schools.
