An extensive range of community grants have been given to community not-for-profit and charitable organisations in the first half of 2024. This is part of Community Bank Epping‘s ethos to return at least 80% of annual profits to local projects that benefit the area.

30 project applications were submitted by 28 organisations covering a very diverse range of activities – from local schools to service organisations, events to sporting clubs, community assistance to local churches. All the applications had one thing in common – they seek to improve and enhance living in and around Epping.

After assessment, 25 project grants from 23 organisations were approved. Some are already underway whilst other projects will take longer to come to fruition.  The requests were from:

  • 4 local school P&Cs
  • 8 community sports clubs
  • 3 churches
  • 2 youth organisations
  • 3 community assistance organisations
  • 1 cultural event
  • 1 local event
  • 1 environmental organisation
  • 2 service clubs

Projects that have got underway quickly include:

  • Refurbishment of a new community hall run by Epping Rotary
  • Fit out of canteens in two new sporting clubhouses – at Boronia Park and Ron Payne oval
  • Support of a local family and parenting free legal aid service
  • New equipment for two netball clubs and a local playgroup
  • Funding for a website for a local environmental group
  • Assistance for important capital works at local disabled riding services
  • Help with the ongoing development of a community garden
  • Support for projects run by three school P&Cs

All this, and more, is made possible through local residents choosing to use Community Bank Epping for their banking.
